Great cars in all but i have a secret ... im a Toyota fan !! Toyota in my humble opinion are the best car manufacture to come out of Japan. Alot of people will be crying what about Nissan ??? well to be honest the Skyline GT-R can blow me !!!! Dont get me wrong great car and everything but it AINT that great. MANY well do to mechanics and engineers Believe the MKIV Supra is the most over engineered production car ever built. For example the stock engine is good for 600hp- 700hp. Stock being standard pistons/rods/bolts/crank and rings Many tuning houses in the US are getting 500 rear wheel HP without even opening the engine !!
one recent example is TurboImports in America who have their MK IV 6 speed running 10.69 1/4's @ 136mph with stock engine internals.
T66 6spd Supra. This run was done on 2 bar with a stock engine, other than HKS 264 cams, and a HKS VPC, Greddy 720cc injectors, Twin Intank Fuel Pumps, TRD Twin Disc Clutch, 16x9.5 Bogarts and 26x10.5x16 ET Streets. Not too shabby for it's third pass on that setup!
Show me a Skyline GT-R with the same mods pulling the same numbers !!!!!!!!! Sure the GT-R could possibly do one or two runs before a throwing a piston
The supra is powered by a 3.0L inline Straight 6 cyl,
The turbo variant features twin sequential (small turbo spools up before the big
one )turbos a TORSION limited slip rear diff
and a 6 speed Getrag gearbox as a option. Also stock cooling system includes Transmission
oil cooler, engine oil cooler and rear differential cooler alnog with the
normal radiator and thermo fans. Thats alot of equipment from a production
car, The Torsen diff being a interesting addition. Most manufactures uses
the Viscous style LSD which is based on different oil viscosities, whilst
the Torsen unit is mechanical.
The Supra Turbo in my mind is second to only one car. Luckily the Supra is about the third the price ... yes you guessed it ... that one car is of course is a 'Turbo' .... now i hope you all know what 'turbo' im talking about ... Porsche Turbo !!! drool .. 3.6 Liters of twin turbocharged goodness mixed in with Porsches legendary engineering and many many years of race development. Also quick piece of useless info Porsche sell and support the same products they race with. So its possible to buy the same equipment the Works team use .. I really like that idea ... all i need now is 2 million for my GT2 Factory racer !!
