Recycling is a key service that is offered to customers, particularly those that require solvents for cleaning. Recycling waste solvents into refined, usable solvents can offer significant savings to solvent customers. Nuplex Environmental operates solvent refining plants at both of its sites and supplies refined solvents and blends to the New Zealand market.

The refine and return service produces the majority of product that is recycled in the solvent refining units. This solvent is subsequently returned to the customers for re-use in their operations. 

The refinery operation is also a point of disposal for customers not wanting the return of refined product for re-use. These types of wastes are processed to remove volatile solvents and then the sludges are finally treated within one of the other treatment systems that are available on site.

• Nuplex Environmental operates two solvent distillation units at East Tamaki and one unit at Seaview. 
• One of the East Tamaki stills is constructed of stainless steel specifically to enable chlorinated solvents (such as methylene chloride, trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene) to be distilled. 
• Laboratory tests are carried out to show the customer the exact composition of returned materials. 
• Specific materials can be added in order to formulate the returned product to a particular mix for their processes if required. 

Fuel Oil

In addition to the recycling of solvents, Nuplex Environmental also recycles waste oil in a chemi-physical process to produce marketable fuel oil.
