One musical show just was not enough (for The Improvisors at least!). After 2007's sell-out Circa season of "Improv - The Musical" The Improvisors rock back into the world of choruses, duets and solos.

This time we say goodbye to gentility of Gilbert and Sullivan and give a wild a raucous hello to the world of rock.

Improv - The Rock Opera takes its inspiration from "Tommy", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "We Will Rock You", Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and even "Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds" to poke gentle fun at the stories of teenage rebellion, thwarted dreams, young love and prolonged guitar solos.

This is a 90 minute fully improvised musical. Its seat of the pants stuff as the enthusiastic amateur singers of The Improvisors mesh with a band of pro-rockers featuring Chapman Tripp winner Steve Gallagher and John Kingston of The Hairy Lollies.

Once again, the audience calls the tune - setting the obstacles our heroic characters must overcome and providing even bigger hurdles to this cast of all-singing, possibly-all-dancing improvisors.
