Steve Gallagher
is a composer, sound designer and musician. He is a multiple Chapman-Tripp
Theatre award winner; Sound Designer of The Year 2004 for "Oho
Ake", Outstanding Composer of Original Music 2005 for
"Hinepau" and he co-wrote the score and sound design
for 2004 Production Of The Year "Albert Speer".
Last year, Steve became the first New Zealander to compose music
and design sound for a French National Theatre production when he
was invited to Paris to work with Comedie De Picardie and their
show "Devine Paroles". The show, after touring
parts of France in 2005, opened in Paris. Steve will be returning
to France this year to work on a second production.
Steve has worked
on TV soundtracks, recently composing the score to the TVNZ children's
series "The Killian Curse". He has previously
worked as assitant composer to David Long on the award winning score
to "The Insider's Guide to Happiness" and on
"The Strip #2". Steve's film scores include "Murmurs"
( a full length indie feature by directors Alex Greenhough and Elric
Kane), "The Night of the Broccoli" ( a short
film by American director/animator Mike Murphy) and "A&E"
( a short film by Charlie Bleakley that played in the Fantasy
Film Festival in Brussels). Steve
is also a sound editor and his credits include work on TV shows
"Holly's Hereos" and "The New Tomorrow".
As a keyboardist,
Steve has recorded or played with many groups including Rhombus,
Breathe, Stellar*, Luke Buda, Dave Dobbyn and Jeremy Taylor.
