Robbie Ellis
was born on Auckland's sunny North Shore and studied Music at uni.
Once he realised
that leaving his composition assignments to the very last minute
essentially rendered them improvised, it was a natural progression
for him to become a musician for improv theatre. After seven years
with Auckland's long-running improv company ConArtists, in 2008
he swapped volcanoes for earthquakes and made the move to Wellington
to work for Radio New Zealand Concert.
Robbie plays around town with
bands, does sound design for theatre, scores films, composes concert
music, and plays lots of improv.
Sometimes he even considers himself an actor and director.
Robbie is made his The Improvisors
debut in Theatresports
and Improv: The Rock Opera. He
can also be heard Wednesday nights on Radio New Zealand Concert
Programme.
