Introduction
NZPTA President John Ballantyne
announcing the 2002 School Cookie Campaign for NZ Schools:
On behalf of the NZPTA I would first like to thank the hundreds of schools that participated in the 2001 School Cookie
campaign for their support and for helping to make last years campaign a great success. We have been thrilled with both
the response from the schools and the public, and are delighted to advise that almost a quarter of a million dollars was
raised for your individual projects.
The “School Cookie” campaign has been designed as a national, annual event for school PTAs and other educational
bodies throughout New Zealand. School Cookies can help you raise valuable funds for your projects. Some of the key
elements behind the success of School Cookies include:
• Everyone buys and eats biscuits - it is not a hard sell
• You get $1 for every packet sold (that’s a 40% return)
• You do not have to pay for the biscuits until after the campaign is over - no upfront payment required
• We provide full support through a help desk 0800 464 474 or the School Cookie website www.schoolcookies.co.nz
Last year the one concern voiced was the national promotion. I am very pleased to announce that TV3 will be a major
partner of School Cookies this year. With their support, we have a national TV promotion scheduled and we will also
provide other PR mechanisms to generate both national and local coverage.
Also in response to feedback, we will provide a campaign poster for your use. We would like your school to help design
this poster and we have a competition available to all schools that place an order. If your design is selected you will win
an additional $1,000 for your school. Please see the enclosed flyer.
All of the information that you require is detailed in the enclosed brochure. Should you have any queries please call
us on 0800 464 474.
As Howick school - Our Lady Star Of The Sea - stated last year “The School Cookies programme provided our school
with a fresh opportunity to successfully fundraise towards the building of a new school hall. The product is excellent and
selling was easy for all the children to get involved with. We are looking forward to selling even more cookies next time.”
We look forward to your participation.
