<< In December 1999 SBT embarked on
the provision of a shared ride shuttle service under the banner of the well established
operator DIRECT Shuttles. Starting off with just two vanx, we now boast 5 Toyota Hiace
vans and one Toyota 17 seat bus, we also have ready access to another 20 seater bus should
the need arise. In December 2000 the business had grown to the extent that we 'branched
out on our own' and rebranded as Shuttle Bus Transport complete with fully computerised
despatch facility, on site transit lounge etc. >>
<< The use of Shuttle buses (particularly for Airport transfers home etc) has to be
in
the overall interests of the country, and everyone else concerned. The efficiencies
obtained with the concept of one van, one driver, one lot of petrol, one vehicle on the
road etc with say nine people to various 'drop-offs' in the centre of the city compared
with the use of probably 7 to 8 taxis doing the same job is reflected in the comparative
prices. One recent submission indicated an overall cost saving to a group
of
passengers of approx. $100 by using Shuttles ($182 by taxi - $82 by
Shuttle).
Shuttles aim to be half the metered price and quote a total price before
the journey
starts. It is true that a journey with us may take an extra 10-15 mins (the concept of
multiple drop-offs) but to most this is no major disadvantage, especially in view of the

1>> Airport and Urban Shuttles
In Christchurch, Ground Transport between Airport and City addresses (or Vice Versa) and Rail and City (again or vice versa) is now provided by Shuttle Bus Transport. Do share your ride, think of our environment (and your pocket). Don't grab a cab, take a Shuttle to your destination!
2>> Get you there (and Get you home)
With the excessive penalties being imposed on drivers who drink even relatively minor amounts of alcohol only a 'bloody idiot' would take the risk. With this service we collect any number of people from their individual homes - take 'out' for the evening, to a restaurant, winer etc the either return them directly to their homes afterwards or (if more socialising is envisaged) drop in the city Centre and take them home later with The AllNighter (as described below). We offer a 24 hour service so whatever the time, it is no problem for us. Typically passengers would pay perhaps $7 each (each way) with no temptation to drink then drive.

3>> The Allnighter
Our other service (proving tobe very popular) is our All Nighter scheduled service which runs (at present) Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights (although our licence is for 7 days a week) at 12.30am, 1.30, 2.30, 3.30, 4.30 & 5.30am from the central city direct to passengers homes. This has proved to be a very economical way for revellers to get home safely - city to door but at realistic prices. The All Nighter is a scheduled 'mini bus' service running from the central city (Strip, Hereford St, Lichfield St, Manchester St) thence to passengers homes. Maximum price (within declared area) is $8 per person with discounts for groups or shorter trips. Passengers can also reserve a seat or make a booking by phoning 0800 83 69 69
