The 3 Kings Islands.
The 3 Kings are revered by all fishermen/women within New Zealand and around the world, It is the holey grail of Big game fishing in the South Pacific. Every thing at the 3 Kings is big, a big area of ocean, big scenery, big fish & plenty of them.
As a minimum you need to allow a 5 day trip to the 3 Kings, we can depart from the Bay of Islands but to save 1 days steaming (travelling) we will pick you up from a small port called Hohora. From there we will have you on the King Bank in approx 7 hours, that is if you don't catch a Marlin on the way. There are two main areas that we target at the 3 Kings, the King Bank and the Middlesex Bank, these banks rise in places from 1000 metres up to 35 metres of depth with a lot of water current, some times as much as 7 knots.
Anchorage at night is either in Northwest or Southeast bay at the main group of the 3 Kings, given good weather conditions we will stay out at night and drift fish for a Broadbill.
On our last trip we caught 7 Marlin, 5 of these were tagged and released. Several Groper/Hapuku up to 80kg (170lb), Yellowtail Kingfish 50kg (110lb) and Tarakihi
