Tips for Finding the Right Caterer
Always
ask for a couple of reference telephone numbers of past clients who has
used the caterers to as close to your catering requirements as the past
clients function. Call them and ask these references what worked and
what didn't work when dealing with the catering company.
If possible, find out when the caterer has got a function on which
has the selection of food you are interested in and request samples. The
last thing you want is to have your guests remark on the poor standard and
selection of food supplied.
Research the caterer in terms of how long they have been in business, what
are some of their best clients and how responsive and proactive the caterer
appears on YOUR FIRST CALL. If the excuse of time or budgeting
complaints occur, I assert you are dealing with a caterer who has
conditional commitments which may let you down should you commission them to
take on your function.
What was your first experience of the caterer? Were you left
touched,
moved and inspired by who the caterer was when it came down to talking how
they could help you in having your function exceed expectations. Notice
whether the caterers was willing to give you the time to give advice,
suggestions and ideas for your functions. A happy caterer is one who
doesn't
mind the hours of preparation, negotiations, organizing, quoting, cooking,
customizing and creativity.
Using powerful communication, have the caterer make promises
in time of when they will complete each of your requests.
If they maintain
their integrity by meeting their promises in time, you will have an
effective and professional catering organization. One you can count on.
