Situated in the 1882 Athenaeum building, this museum specialises in the history of the Waitaki District. Well set up research facilities include over 800 metres of archives, 5,000 maps and plans, and over 500,000 photographic images of the area. A Temuka Pottery collection is also a feature.

The Victorian Wardrobe is situated in the North Otago Museum and contains Victorian and Edwardian ladies, gentlemen and children's clothes for hire. The Wardrobe in open every Thurdsday 10am to 2pm and Saturday mornings by appointment
