WELCOME to the website of kontiki power my name is Robert Pearce and I live at Matata.

Which is one of the best fishing beaches on the east coast of the Bay Of Plenty,20 minutes from whakatane it hosts a number of surf casting competions annually and is very popular for kontiki and kite fishing.

I have been kontiki fishing there for a number of years now and have made several designs learning something different with each one.

My latest design (Pictured) is 1.5mt long x 1mt wide with a 1.2mt x 1.2mt nylon sail which is excellent for lighter winds, It has tan painted timber slats with aluminum and stainless steel brackets and fittings.

It is unsinkable,light and can handle the knocks.

The sail can be tacked for any sideways winds by adjusting the 10 mm barrier cord and wooden slat.

And for all you eager fishos the kontiki can be out to sea with 25 baits within 20 minutes.

The Kontiki raft (pictured below) has a mechanical release system which trips the sail and releases the lead weight to the bottom of the ocean floor.Which means no more barley surgar no more release boards just put the brakes on the reel and the sail will drop.
