Karamana (1872) Homestead

There is lots to see and do in Coromandel:

Driving Creek Railway
An hour long ride on a unique narrow gauge railway that takes you into the hills through native forest. A must see.

Coromandel Goldfield Centre and Stamper Battery
Ashleys Famous Tour of the Coromandel Gold Stamper Battery is probably the most informative and interesting hour you will spend in Coromandel.

Coromandel Museum
Return to the colourful history of kauri, gold and farming in Coromandel.

Fishing Charters
We can arrange your choice of fishing trip

Spend time on the 309 Road

Waiau Waterworks
Featuring whimsical gadgets and interactive playthings, all worked by water.

Castle Rock
Climb to the top if you can. It is worth the effort for the view.

Waiau Falls
It is a beautiful bush glade where the Waiau crashes over a rock face and into the pool below.
A great place for a swim on a hot day.

The Kauri Grove
Here is your chance to see the type of tree that Karamana was built from.
These trees have been here for hundreds of years and are now protected. We highly recommend this short walk.

Want to venture a bit farther

Take a drive
Drive up to Colville (30 minutes) or to the top of the peninsula (1-1/2 hours). Along the way there are beaches, hiking and fantastic views or we can arrange a Strongmans Bus Tour.

Hot Water Beach
The hot water flows out of the sand. You can dig your own hot tub. The centre of the stream is too hot so you will have to find a spot on the edge to let some cool water flow in. We will provide a shovel and beach towel. You can relax in an amazing natural phenomenon.

Hiking
There are hiking trails all over the peninsula. From short walks to all day hikes - we can find the trail that will suit your energy level. See the native bush up close and personal.
