Commuter Newsletter
Welcome
to our first issue for 2003!
Wishing
you all a very fine and prosperous year ahead and we very much look forward to
looking to having you with us on board this year.
The
start of February has seen some great weather and I gather most of you are now
back to work after what we do hope was a relaxing January! Its great to welcome
new faces on board and to catch up with our regulars! The last few weeks have
offered us some incredible weather and its just great for cruising to and from
work!
First
up, please accept our apologies for not ‘reading the market’ accurately and not
putting on special late night sailings for the recent Rugby Sevens weekend. We
had a lot of feedback (but mostly on the day or after the event!) that it would
have been widely used. No excuses offered but last year we did put it on and
only a handful took advantage of it. Anyway lesson learnt and we propose to be
proactive in the future for stadium and other events.
In
this regard we have listed below our advance calendar for forthcoming late
night sailing dates. This is by no means exhaustive as it encompasses only
fixtures set to date. Still to be confirmed are the NPC Rugby, NRL League and
other popular events.
Saturday
22nd February is the next late night sailing date for the NBR Stadium Spectacular!
The ferry will depart Days Bay @ 6.45pm for the 8.00pm start and return
from Queens Wharf @ 11.05pm (25 mins after the finish!). Please also
note if events are late finishing the ferry will always allow sufficient time
for passengers to get to the ferry!
Two
Weeks later on Friday 7th March we have our first Hurricanes
match at the Stadium. Please note the earlier than usual start time 6.00pm The
ferry will depart Days Bay at its regular time of 4.55pm and return from
Queens Wharf @ 8.30pm.
We
will circulate and update our website with all other late night sailing details
as they approach but a schedule of Stadium events to date is as overleaf.

WESTPACTRUST
STADIUM EVENTS SCHEDULE 2003
As to other news, you may be aware, Greater Wellington (formerly Wellington Regional Council) called tenders for our Queens Wharf / Days Bay ferry service last November. East By West was the only tenderer and we are now awaiting an opportunity to meet with Greater Wellington to discuss the new contract. We hope to do this in the next few weeks and we will certainly keep you informed of the outcome.
There
are a number of exciting options and enhancements to be discussed including a
possible second ferry service! … You will be first to know!!
Congratulations
also go out to one of our longest serving commuters, Fran Paton - (Is it 12
years Fran?). Fran has finally won the monthly draw for a free concession card
after all these years! About time I would say! You’ll probably now win again
next month!! – So the moral is don’t forget to put your expired or used
concession cards in the draw on board. It could be your turn next!
Finally,
we love feed back, good & bad, so please do not hesitate to leave us a
message with suggestions, bouquets or brickbats. We want to hear them all. We
want to give you the service you want so let us know! Email us on info@eastbywest.co.nz. and we’ll also ensure you’re on our email
list for our newsletters!
Happy
Sailing!
