Descendants of John MacLeod, Tubeg, Assynt
John MacLeod married Margaret Kerr.
- Mary MacLeod, born circa
1791. She was living in Tubeg when she married Roderick MacDonald from Strathan in 1808. She died on 12 Apr 1862 in Strathan, aged about 70, after 6 years of paralysis.
Mary MacLeod's marriage contract of 1808 says she was living in Tubeg which is on the south shore of Loch Assynt. Her parents names, from her death registration, are John MacLeod and Margaret Kerr. In the census of 1811 (1) which recorded the names of the heads of household there are three families at Tubeg, two of which were headed by John MacLeods. I assume one of these was Mary's father.
1811 Census, Tubeg.
John McLeod Bain 1 male 4 females
John McLeod McRory 2 males 2 females
John Michael 1 male 4 females
Tubeg was cleared of tenants in 1812. In a record of that time (2) they are called John MacLeod Senior and John MacLeod Junior. Putting the information together gives this tree. I don't know which John was married to Margaret Kerr.
