Descendants of Neil Matheson, Assynt.

1. Donald Matheson, born 1785. He married Sarah / More Munro at Torbreck on 12 Mar 1816, he was living at Oldney and she was from Stoer. He died of fever on 8 Mar 1857 at Clachtoll, Assynt, aged 72.
   They had eight children,
   1. Norman Matheson, born 15 Jun 1817 Assynt
   2. Alexander Matheson, born 1820.
   3. Jean Matheson, born 9 May 1822 Assynt
   4. Merran Matheson, born 1825.
   5. Neil Matheson, born 2 Mar 1825 Assynt
   6. Peggy Matheson, born 1828.
   7. Duncan Matheson, born 1832.
   8. Margaret Matheson, born 29 Jun 1834 Assynt
2. Angus Matheson, born 1793. He didn't marry and died 22 Jun 1865 at Clachtoll, Assynt, aged 72.
3. William Matheson, born 1798, married Betsy MacLeod, from Inverkirkaig, daughter of Roderick MacLeod and Flora Ross, on 25 Feb 1829 at Edrachalda, Assynt. They lived at Clachtol. He died there on 25 May 1885 aged 88.
   They had eight children,
   1. John Matheson, born about 1830. He was at his parents home in the 1851 census but I don't know what happened to him after that.
   2. Norman Matheson, born 3 Aug 1831 Clachtoll, bapt. 26 Aug 1831. He was a fisherman which would have taken him to Wick where he married Georgina MacKay, daughter of John and Eliza MacKay, on 6 Sep 1860. They raised a family at Clachtoll and they both died there, Georgina in 1910 aged 72 and Norman in 1918 aged 86
      They had the following children,
      1. John Matheson, born 14 Jul 1861 Assynt.
      2. Margaret Matheson, born 22 Feb 1863 Assynt.
      3. John Matheson, born 13 Jan 1866 Assynt. He was a fisherman. He died on 10 May 1894 at Babnaban aged 28
      4. Hughina Matheson, born 7 Feb 1868 Assynt.
      5. Hugh Mackay Matheson, born 10 Apr 1870 Assynt.
      6. William Matheson, born 14 Jan 1873 Assynt.
      7. Caroline Matheson, born 1878.
   3. Hugh Matheson, born 1835, was a fisherman. He died on 28 May 1866 aged 30 yrs.
   4. Jean /Jane Matheson, born 1838. She married Donald MacLeod, a fisherman, on 5 Feb 1875 and they had two daughters. She died at Clachtoll in 1925 aged 86.

   5. Neil Matheson, born Aug 1840, was a fisherman. He married Alexanderina MacKenzie, daughter of Angus MacKenzie and Flora MacLeod, on 3 Feb 1876 at Stoer Free Church, Assynt. He died at Stoer in 1903 aged 63 .

      3. Roderick Matheson, born Jan 1881.
   6. Alexander Matheson, born 1844, was a fisherman. He married Janet Munro, daughter of Alexander Munro and Isabella Kerr, at Torbreck on 10 Mar 1881. His wife died on 22 Jun 1897, aged 40. He died in 1925 aged 81. (He was the informant to the death of his mother's half brother Murdo MacLeod in 1898 which is how I tied these families together.)

      4. Alexanderina Matheson, born Jan 1891 Assynt.
   7. Neil Matheson, born 1846 was a fisherman. (He was the informant to his mother's death in 1891.)
   8. Roderick Matheson, born 1849 was a fisherman. He married Christy Fraser, daughter of Donald Fraser and Peggy Matheson, on 28 Dec 1876 at Stoer. He was drowned off Ardroe Point on 5 May 1880 aged 30.
