The role of the President is to Chair Board of Trustee meetings and to exercise the powers conferred on the Board in accordance with the ACT New Zealand Constitution.

Key Tasks:

Board

  • Chairing Board meetings and Annual General Meeting.  When unavailable, to ensure Vice President to Chair said meeting.
  • Work with Chief Executive and Party Secretary to write agenda for each meeting.
  • Serve on Board Committees either as a full member or ad hoc.
  • Regular communication with Board members.
  • In conjunction with Chief Executive, prepare strategic plan following discussions with Party Leader.
  • Monitor implementation of Strategic Plan.
  • Agree work programme with Chief Executive and monitor implementation.
  • To be the reporting line for the Chief Executive.
  • To be an adviser, mentor, coach and supervisor to the Chief Executive, reporting to the Board on an annual basis on the performance of the Chief Executive.
  • Ensure polling is undertaken and results discussed at both Board and Caucus levels.

Party - Caucus

  • To hold regular meetings with the Leader of the parliamentary team and to a lesser extent other MPs.
  • Agree strategic plan with Caucus members.
  • Regular attendance at Caucus meetings.
  • Attend Caucus retreats as much as possible.
  • Convey members/Board concerns to the Caucus.

Party - Members

  • A minimum of one visit per annum to each of the seven regions is highly desirable.
  • Regular communication via newsletter.
  • Help build membership.

Public

  • To be Party media spokesperson along with the Chief Executive.
  • Undertake speaking engagements - public and Party.

Fundraising

  • Regular visits to major donors, supporters and to take a leadership role in Party fundraising.  To be able to assist any person employed in the Party in a fundraising role with guidance, and attend visits when available.
