The role of ACT's president is essentially to head the party organisation.  I see the key tasks within the job being:

  • to chair board meetings effectively
  • support and work with and through the chief executive and board members
  • manage the candidate list selection process effectively
  • meet regularly with the party leader and MPs and offer them advice on media and communications management
  • liaise between party members and the caucus
  • ensure the strategic plan is implemented, and
  • play a lead role in fundraising and building membership.

If I am elected I will be re-organising my business affairs to allow me the time necessary to be an effective president.  I intend to be readily accessible to members.

I warmly welcome the opportunity to work with Vince Ashworth (Vice President-elect) and benefit from his invaluable experience within the party and his outstanding organisational skills.  I believe we would make a strong, effective team.
