Naturally Narlly was created out of a vision by Daniel Morris and Manaia Rehu in the winter of 1997. During a hunting trip in the High country back blocks of the South Island of New Zealand. They came across redundant native timbers going to waste in the wilderness, and after some extensive inquiries the correct permits were obtained. The opportunity to bring the dead trees back to life became a reality. We then found the appropriate artists to maximize the potential that each rare piece had to offer.

The Naturally Narlly Work center and Head Office was established in a large, old wharehouse in Christchurch, New Zealand. Most pieces are put together in the high country bushlands and then flown by helicopter to the Naturally Narlly Work Center where they are pain stakenly hand furnished and sanded. Several coats of the grain pulling liberon are then applied. Each piece of furniture is a Limited Edition work of Art and could never be reproduced. All joining is done the old fashioned way to a high standard as befits the timber used.

The Native Woods used are Totora, Matai, Miro, Tapwhai, Rimu, Kahikatea some of which have been carbon dated up to 800 years old. The trees are rare and can no longer be cut down, making each item of furniture even more precious. We liken our New Zealand Native timbers to the Australian Opal where Color, Density, and Grain make even the smallest piece priceless.
